Every new blog needs a first post. And, here’s mine…

Welcome to a brand new project of mine… Plain English Crypto.

I am most definitely not new to blogging. Been doing it a really long time, in fact. I grew a big tech blog into a six-figure business and sold it. Today, I run the Blog Marketing Academy and I have a little hobby site called HappilyRV that I do for giggles.

Online publishing and blogging is in my blood. I’m a born communicator and writer. And, ever since my days as a tech blogger, one of the things I do is to try to make the complicated… simple.

Back then, I talked about how to build PCs and do upgrades, yada yada. Today, I try to take the overwhelming subject of online business and marketing (and the tech side of Wordpress and membership sites)… and make that simpler for people.

And now… I’d like to do the same for cryptocurrency.

This isn’t some willy nilly thing for me. This is not just a ploy to make money (although, as a publisher, I will obviously have some monetization going on here). I know it can be common to see a birth of new “experts” and “gurus” whenever there’s a crypto bull market. It’s funny to watch every time. Then, they mysteriously go dark again when the bear run happens. 😉

Nah… none of that. This isn’t some attempt to capitalize.

See, I’ve casually made posts on social media for a little while about crypto. And people ask me questions. The overriding thing I see out there is that…

A lot of people just are plain confused by cryptocurrency!

It is just so different than normal finance. And they hear all these funny words and they don’t know what it means. They see the price going up, though. They feel they might be missing something. They probably also see the conflicting media reports, with some calling it “ponzi scheme” or “tulip mania” while others saying it’s the best thing ever.

It’s confusing!

And I know from my previous experience as a tech blogger and even helping people with Wordpress sites that… most people aren’t nerds. 🙂 Most people are casual users of technology, but they don’t truly understand it.

This thing, though. Cryptocurrency. It has to do with MONEY. That’s something everybody is interested in. And so… people are looking. But, it feels nerdy. It feels scary.

There are already a ton of people out there talking crypto. Some try to explain things, but many are engaged merely in the investment side of it. They make price predictions or sit there and talk about chart patterns. A lot of their stuff is clickbait. There’s value in that stuff, but I think it UNDERSERVES the world.

Because, for MOST people, all those price predictions and nerdy talk don’t actually help.

It doesn’t help people who would benefit from the growing world of crypto and decentralized finance actually get started and do anything. I think it compounds the frustration.

So, my goal with this new site is simple.

I want to make cryptocurrency simple.

I want to help onboard as many new people as possible. I want to do what I can do explain things so that  you can understand it and actually use it. I also want to help people navigate this fast-changing new asset class.

I won’t pretend to be an expert. I know more than most, yes. But, there are people who know way more than I do. I’m not into the development side of this space. In some cases, my role here is going to be to research things, digest it into an easily approachable way, then publish it here. In no way am I a “guru” of cryptocurrency. 🙂

I just don’t want people to be left out. 

I don’t want people to get caught with their pants down.

I believe this decade is going to be one of rapid change. I think governments are killing off their currencies through inflation and massive debt. I believe it will ROB people of their wealth and increase the class divide… and I don’t like it. Unfortunately, it will be the uninformed most hit by it.

I want you to be informed. So you can make decisions for yourself on this.

I will not be giving investment advice. I won’t be recommending coins to you. I will simply publish my own research and opinions. And you can make of it what you will.

And, lastly, it’ll give me an outlet to talk about it.

I’m really enthusiastic about crypto and blockchain. I think it has the power to change the world in numerous ways. It solves many problems… sometimes by merely bypassing that problem. I’ve been an investor in the space since late 2016. I’m not a “whale”, as they say. 🙂 But, I am an enthusiast.

So, it was only natural, given what I do for a living… to start this site.
